Senior Electrical Training & Development Manager

We have a great opportunity for someone who has the passion to develop an Electrical Centre of Excellence for High/ Low Voltage and the growing renewable sector.
Are you interested in being involved in developing an industry-led networking group to engage with various Academic Organisations to address the increasing skills shortage in the Electrical discipline?   If so this role will certainly appeal.
 
The Role:
  • Development of the training academy including selection of additional HV/ LV and renewables equipment
  • Deliver Training Courses
  • Support the HV operational team from time to time at selected client sites after being appointed in writing as an HV Authorised Person for those sites
  • Support the development of bespoke electrical courses specifically targeted towards
        • a. Managers
        • b. The Renewables sector
        • c. Upskilling of electricians
  • Support the identification of new business opportunities in line with overall company strategic targets.
 
The Person:
  • ONC, HNC, Degree or equivalent in an electrical subject and/or have a minimum of ten years relevant experience.
  • Have at least five year’s previous experience as a High Voltage Authorised Person; or have had five year’s previous experience in controlling electrical safe systems of work Capable of managing the activity, taking responsibility, and acting safely under all circumstances both as a High Voltage Authorised Person and as a Trainer in the delivery of High Voltage and Low Voltage Power Systems operational courses.
  • Undertaken a recognized HV Authorised Persons training course including refresher courses at three- year intervals.
  • Undertaken a recognized emergency first aid at work training course at three-year intervals, which shall include treatment for electric shock.
  • Undertaken a recognized Trainer qualification or received a testimonial from a recognized Training Organization.
Key Competencies:
  • Have at least 5 years’ previous experience as a High Voltage Authorised Person; or 5 years’ experience in controlling electrical safe systems of work with another organisation, or in conjunction with an Authorised Person in the Operation and Maintenance of High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems and equipment
  • Have at least three year’s previous experience in the delivery of High Voltage and Low Voltage Power Systems operational courses
  • Have at least three year’s previous experience in the delivery of the following City & Guilds courses:
        • a. 2382-18 – 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
        • b. 2377-22 – PAT Testing
        • c. 2391-52- Inspection and Testing
  • Have direct experience of operating various types of switchgear, under normal, emergency, failure, and fault conditions
  • Have a good working knowledge of the issuing and cancellation procedures for safety documents, issuing of safety keys and use of key safes
